Founder and Registered Psychologist
Hello! My name is Lauren Chan and am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta. A native Calgarian, I completed my Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) in Psychology at the University of Calgary and my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
I am passionate about guiding you towards lasting positive changes in your daily life by utilizing effective treatment models. I bring experience from working with diverse populations from the Calgary Counselling Centre, Carya (formerly Calgary Family Services), Distress Centre, and Society for Treatment of Autism. As I believe that the best indicator of counselling success is the relationship between the client and their counsellor, I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment by utilizing an empathetic and compassionate approach. I am experienced working with individuals, couples, and families, as well as children and adolescents.
I operate from a Client-Centred/Rogerian approach, in that the primary framework will depend on the specific and individual needs of the client, but primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) approaches. When helpful, I will incorporate other methods including Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, and Family Systems Therapy. I utilize methods proven by research to move towards positive, lasting results for clients.
