Registered Provisional Psychologist
Hi there! My name is Alyssa and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Alberta. After completing my Bachelor of Arts at The University of Western Ontario, I went on to complete my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and am now pursuing my Ph.D. in Psychology through Walden University.
I have experience working with individuals, couples/relationships and families, as well as providing psychoeducational assessments. Specializing in couples and relationship therapy, I work from a blend of modalities including the Gottman Model and an emotion-focused lens. I help couples with opening lines of communication, disagreeing in a healthy and beneficial way, understanding and exploring relationship needs, as well as helping couples in finding a shared meaning. I hope to continue helping couples strengthen their conflict-resolution skills, while also restoring trust and intimacy.
My goal as your counsellor is to provide a safe, comfortable and compassionate environment in order to support you and meet you where you are at in your journey, wherever that may be. Our alliance as client and counsellor is of the utmost importance and I strive to form meaningful therapeutic connections so that my clients can flourish. I utilize an evidence-based, blended approach to therapy that is tailored to each clients’ specific needs and presenting concerns, so that a well-suited, individualized and effective treatment plan can be created.
