Lauren Chan, MA, BA (First Class Hons.)

Founder and Clinical Director, Registered Psychologist

Lauren is a Registered Psychologist and the founder of Indigo Psychology. She works with individuals, couples, and families, and specializes in complex trauma, neurodivergence (ADHD, autism), personality disorders, and emotionally unsafe or invalidating relational experiences.

Her approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and deeply compassionate. She integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and mindfulness-based tools to support clarity, healing, and growth. Clients describe her as grounded, warm, and clear-eyed in navigating difficult emotional landscapes.

Lauren completed her Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) in Psychology at the University of Calgary and her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. She trained and worked in diverse clinical settings including the Calgary Counselling Centre, Carya (formerly Calgary Family Services), Distress Centre, and the Society for Treatment of Autism.

In addition to her clinical work, Lauren mentors early-career therapists and leads the Indigo team with a focus on relational integrity, ethical care, and emotional sustainability. She is passionate about creating spaces where both clients and clinicians feel safe, supported, and able to grow.

 


Shaheena Kassam, MA, BSc

Registered Psychologist

Shaheena is a Registered Psychologist with over 8 years of experience supporting children, teens, and families through a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges. She works with concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, social difficulties, and emotional regulation.

Shaheena provides both counselling and psychological assessment services. Her counselling work draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, mindfulness-based strategies, and play-based approaches to create developmentally appropriate and emotionally safe spaces for her clients. She works from a warm, non-judgmental, and flexible stance, always centring the client’s needs.

In addition to therapy, Shaheena offers comprehensive psychoeducational and psychological assessments for both children (ages 6–16) and adults (17+). These assessments address learning profiles, cognitive challenges, attention and executive functioning concerns (including ADHD), and mental health-related diagnostic clarity.

Shaheena holds a Master of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta, and a diploma in Child and Youth Care from MacEwan University. She brings a systems-informed, collaborative lens to her work and is committed to supporting her clients in understanding themselves more deeply and building tools for resilience and success.


Elizabeth Brunner, MA, BA

Registered Psychologist

Elizabeth is a Registered Psychologist in Alberta and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, families, and teens (16+) in community mental health settings. She brings a grounded, compassionate presence to her work, helping clients feel safe as they explore difficult emotions and life challenges.

Elizabeth holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She builds strong therapeutic relationships through empathy and respect, creating an environment where clients can deepen their self-awareness, foster resilience, and pursue meaningful change.

Her approach is collaborative and tailored to each client’s needs, drawing from a range of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, and the Gottman Method for couples.

Elizabeth’s areas of focus include anxiety, stress, depression, trauma and PTSD, relationship issues, parenting, life transitions, grief and loss, self-esteem, boundaries, and anger. She believes in the power of healing and growth—even through life’s most painful experiences—and is deeply honoured to walk alongside clients on their journey toward change.


Shrandeep Birring, MC, BA

Registered Provisional Psychologist

Shrandeep is a Registered Provisional Psychologist who provides counselling for children, youth, and adults. She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and is committed to supporting clients with care, curiosity, and cultural sensitivity.

She believes therapy is a collaborative process grounded in trust, respect, and openness. Her approach is shaped by a deep understanding of how identity, relationships, and life transitions intersect with mental health. She draws from evidence-based approaches including culturally adapted Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CaCBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and mindfulness-based practices to support clients with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, stress, and identity-related concerns.

As someone who identifies as a second-generation immigrant, Shrandeep brings both personal and professional insight into the complexities of navigating cultural expectations, shifting values, and belonging. She is particularly passionate about working with individuals who feel caught in periods of transition, whether adjusting to new roles, relationships, or life stages.

Clients often describe Shrandeep’s presence as calm, thoughtful, and attuned. She strives to create a space where people feel seen and supported as they explore their inner experiences and move toward growth.

 


Navdeep Vining, MA, BA

Registered Provisional Psychologist

Navdeep is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, offering compassionate, client-centred counselling for children, adolescents, adults, and families. She holds a Master of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Calgary.

She brings extensive experience supporting neurodivergent individuals and children with disabilities through roles at the Society for Treatment of Autism, Providence, and Foothills Academy. Her professional background includes therapeutic teaching, play-based interventions, and counselling children, teens, and families with ADHD, learning disabilities, trauma, anxiety, depression, and behavioural challenges.

Her approach integrates CBT, DBT, Person-Centred Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She is trauma-informed and skilled in creating culturally sensitive, inclusive spaces for healing.

Raised in northeast Calgary, Navdeep is passionate about reducing stigma and increasing access to mental health care within the South Asian community. She is dedicated to cultural humility and tailoring her approach to each client’s unique needs, fostering resilience through empathy, inclusivity, and advocacy.


Taylor Brost, MA, BA

Canadian Certified Counsellor

Taylor is a Canadian Certified Counsellor at Indigo Psychology with a Master of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She supports individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, identity, self-esteem, and relational challenges.

Her counselling style is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based. She integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Person-Centred approaches within a biopsychosocial framework. Clients describe her as empathetic, grounded, and thoughtful in her presence.

Taylor also brings a diverse professional background from her work in the oil and gas sector, where she developed strong problem-solving, adaptability, and organizational skills. She combines this with her volunteer experience at Helping Families Handle Cancer, where she helped develop fundraising initiatives and support programs. These experiences give her a unique ability to connect with clients navigating complex transitions, stress, and high-pressure environments.

Hi, my name is Harschale Sharma. I am in my third year of Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies with a minor in Health and Society. I have always had a passion for helping others and doing my best to be present and active in my community.

At Indigo, I support clients by helping with scheduling, communication, and making sure the clinic runs smoothly. My role is to take care of the behind-the-scenes details so clients can focus on what matters most—their care and well-being. In my free time, I enjoy catching up with friends and family.


Louise Pedersen

Hi, I’m Louise. I am a fourth-year psychology student at Mount Royal University. I was born in Edmonton but moved to Calgary at a young age, and I am passionate about exploring the mental health landscape here in our city. I’m eager to work with diverse populations to understand their unique experiences.

At Indigo, I help support clients by assisting with intake, answering questions, and coordinating appointments to ensure everything runs smoothly. My goal is to help create a welcoming, organized environment where clients feel supported from the moment they connect with us. During my free time I like to read and go for long walks.

Hi! I’m Agam, a fourth-year BSc Psychology student at the University of Calgary, and I work in an administrative role here. I help ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes so you have the best possible experience with us. My academic background in psychology gives me insight into the client experience, and I’m passionate about helping people feel at ease when they reach out for support.

Hi, my name is Agrima Mehta and I am on Indigo’s administration team! I am currently in my third year at the University of Calgary in the Natural Sciences program with a concentration in biology and chemistry. I have a super cute dog named Archie, and in my free time—when I am not studying to become a surgeon—I enjoy hanging out with friends and doing outdoor activities. I just picked up snowboarding last year!

At Indigo, I help clients by organizing appointments, assisting with communication, and making sure everything behind the scenes stays on track. I love being part of a team that values client care and well-being.
