Hello! My name is Lauren Chan and am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta. A native Calgarian, I completed my Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) in Psychology at the University of Calgary and my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
I am passionate about guiding you towards lasting positive changes in your daily life by utilizing effective treatment models. I bring experience from working with diverse populations from the Calgary Counselling Centre, Carya (formerly Calgary Family Services), Distress Centre, and Society for Treatment of Autism. As I believe that the best indicator of counselling success is the relationship between the client and their counsellor, I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment by utilizing an empathetic and compassionate approach. I am experienced working with individuals, couples, and families, as well as children and adolescents. I operate from a Client-Centred/Rogerian approach, in that the primary framework will depend on the specific and individual needs of the client, but primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) approaches. When helpful, I will incorporate other methods including Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, and Family Systems Therapy. I utilize methods proven by research to move towards positive, lasting results for clients. Contact me today to get started!Registered Provisional Psychologist
Hi there! My name is Alyssa and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Alberta. After completing my Bachelor of Arts at The University of Western Ontario, I went on to complete my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and am now pursuing my Ph.D. in Psychology through Walden University.
I have experience working with individuals, couples/relationships and families, as well as providing psychoeducational assessments. Specializing in couples and relationship therapy, I work from a blend of modalities including the Gottman Model and an emotion-focused lens. I help couples with opening lines of communication, disagreeing in a healthy and beneficial way, understanding and exploring relationship needs, as well as helping couples in finding a shared meaning. I hope to continue helping couples strengthen their conflict-resolution skills, while also restoring trust and intimacy.
My goal as your counsellor is to provide a safe, comfortable and compassionate environment in order to support you and meet you where you are at in your journey, wherever that may be. Our alliance as client and counsellor is of the utmost importance and I strive to form meaningful therapeutic connections so that my clients can flourish. I utilize an evidence-based, blended approach to therapy that is tailored to each clients' specific needs and presenting concerns, so that a well-suited, individualized and effective treatment plan can be created.
Registered Provisional Psychologist
Hi, my name is Amy. I am registered as a provisional psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a member of the Psychologist's Association of Alberta. I completed a Master of Counselling degree from City University of Seattle in Canada. In addition, I have a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in psychology, a Bachelor of Applied Child Studies degree, and a Children's Mental Health Certificate from Mount Royal University.
For the past 11 years, I have been working with children and families in various capacities. Mainly, I have worked with children and families impacted by neurodevelopmental disorders (ADHD, ASD, FASD) and/or impacted by trauma in various roles within child/youth development, schools, recreation, childcare, group homes, FCSD, and early intervention settings. Overall, I have experience with a multitude of childhood diagnoses and expertise in those with behavioural challenges. Outside of my experience with children and families, I have worked with individuals over the age of 18 regarding intimate partner violence, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, self-harm, relationship issues, family life transitions, anxiety, depression, and grief and loss.
The goal of my approach to counselling is to facilitate the learning of prosocial behaviours, increase clients' awareness of their strengths, and empower sustainable change outside of the therapy sessions. I consider the psychological, developmental, and situational factors that can impact individuals to implement appropriate interventions.
